School Aim

The school aim is to be flexible, catering to requests for private lessons via home lessons as well as offering circle lessons and group lessons in several locations plus contract lessons at kindergartens. Many of our students are also returnee children which calls for an excellent recruitment system to find the very best private teachers and trained, personal tutors with elementary or pre school school teaching experience. With returnee children, studying home lessons we offer creative projects to motivate them to develop their growing language and literacy skills.

Elementary English teacher training program and school philosophy

Since 2002, we have participated in an elementary English teacher training courses, sending young Japanese English teaching assistants as volunteers to teach elementary English in elementary schools and kindergartens. All our kids' classes focus on using and acquainting children with daily expressions, week in week out. We believe that if they can know and can learn to use expressions like "I am finished", "Do you have ??" to play an activity, that is more essentia than children simply swatting page after page of vocabulary or playing games without a clear aim to review the current structures or vocabulary being presented.

Quality education starts with choosing the best private teacher for your class

Many parents who join Passport School say that up till now their children have studied English lessons at schools elsewhere and that their children have had fun, playing games but they have not really learnt the basic skills like how to introduce themselves or reading and writing, so they lack confidence in using English. Of course, it is true that studying English lessons, it takes time and practise to improve, but our emphasis is to help children to learn all 4 skills in balance as soon as they are old enough to. For infants, pre school lessons, we teach infants phonics (pronunciation) in private lessons and mums and infants classes in group lessons and circle lessons too

Teaching English lessons without a clear lesson structure and curriculum is not professional. The quality of teaching depends on choosing the most suitably trained teacher for each and every class. Our English teachers staff are trained, teachers and professionals who mostly are self employed and work part time for themselves. This is an important fact not to overlook and it explains why Passport School English teachers are the most motivated and successful!

SETTING GOALS TOWARDS STUDENT FLUENCY:

Young children learn vocabulary and correct pronunciation fast. Developing conversational skills although most important will not suffice alone to giving children confidence or familiarity with English patterns or prepare them to take charge of their own learning which will not really ever start until they can themselves read and write.. Thus, in our children's classes we emphasize learning to read to a large extent, as after they can read, they can do many things such as read a storybook, and they don't have to keep all the English they know in their head; they can learn it from books and writing activities. The ability to read in English opens up a whole new world. Schools which don't emphasize learning to read phonics from the start tend to have students that are very parrot like and can regurgitate English on command but don't really seem to know what they are doing or why.

A balanced curriculum based on developing all 4 skills is ideal. However, every class has different requests and we tailor our curriculum plan to each class. Many schools introduce a lot of vocabulary to kids but unless children grasp simple sentence-structures and are familiar with how to use and respond to simple common usage introduction questions, their confidence will not grow and they will not perceive how to use English outside of the daily lesson perameters. If students can connect what they hear from the teacher with English structures learnt by habit, then they can start to embrace confidently how to use English outside of lesson time in daily life.

Passport school means a fun, quality, personal, family lesson system!
