Monika's Bangladesh cooking event lesson


1. PRAWNS WITH MUSTARD SEEDS:

No dish could be more typical of Bengal than this one! It is simple to cook yet quite distinctive!

Ingredients @(will serve for four people):

  • 2 tbs whole black mustard seeds
  • 450 grm prawns with shell but no head
  • 60 ml Salad oil
  • 4 hot dried chillies
  • 3 fresh green hot chilles
  • seasoning with turmeric,chilli powder . and salt


How to cook:

peel prawns but leave their tails on.Heat the frying pan over a midium flame,now put the hot chillies stir once and put the prawns on ,now when the prawns turn pink put the spices and green chillies. Stir on a midium heat for 1-2 minutes and let the sauce be a bit thicker.

Note: Eat the hot chillies only when you do know what you are doing!

2. CHICKEN WITH ALMONDS ,CASHEW NUTS ,CURD (yoghurt),
AND RAISINS:


Ingredients: (serves:6 people)

  • 1.6 kg chicken,cut into serving pieces( leg pieces)
  • 200 ml oil
  • 7 whole cardamom pods
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 5 cm cinammon stick 2 bay leaves
  • Cashew nuts, almonds and raisins -each 26 grams
  • Curd 200 grm
  • 4 Green chillies
  • Ginger-20 grm
  • 2 onions
  • 2 whole garlic pieces


How to cook:

Mix the chicken with all the spices except nuts and@curd. Put them on mudium heat, don`t stir at all, let them be boiled.

Mix the nuts with cardomann and sugar( 2 tablespoons). When the chicken gets boiled, mix the card and nuts with them. Leave them on the flame( low) for another 10 minutes.
