ABOUT US?
We offer lessons by contract around Fukuoka area
and beyond. Most classes will be evenings, 1-2 hours
at students` home or business place. We also rent
by the hour classrooms as well as teach in cafes.
Classes are mostly private circles so the style is
informal, but we may need help for specialist courses
too eg. Toeic. Cafe lessons are usually in the daytime
and near subway stations; they may follow a flexible
schedule. The style is more free conversational, however
they also pay less (Y2500/hour). We're also looking
for staff to teach foreign languages (other than English)
and cooking.
OUR SYSTEM?
We recruit throughout the year, but mainly spring
to fall and vice-versa with a bonus for renewals.
A typical lesson pays Y3500 per hour (Y3000 for 1-1)
or \2500/ hour for free conversation café lessons
(10-17.00 only). Transportation fee may be added on
(maximum Y1000), but generally we prefer to hire someone
who lives/works nearby to the class location anyway
(class can be anywhere eg.Tenjin or even Kurume&
Munakata,) since travel time of more than 1 hour for
1 hour`s class is not practical. Pay is each month
on the 15th – you must open a post
office account & sign a contract.
CLASS:
Materials and curriculum are provided plus support.
Lessons are occasionally flexible (e.g. new classes
or end of term) but usually fixed and either once
a week or 3 times a month. A variety of courses exist
for 3 year olds & up.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Responsible, enthusiastic, reliable, long-term native
teachers- usually with own transport. We can't offer
sponsorship, nor f.t. hours. We operate as a travelling
school (i.e. we go to the customer) so this is not
a regular job. We are wary of offering work to new
people with a completely open schedule & few existing
commitments because we want someone who expects reasonably
to stay till the spring/fall term ends, and who will
not quit as their work circumstances change.
ABOUT OUR TEACHERS:
Although we'd like to offer more new classes to existing
teachers, the random location & schedule of the
class is confining. However the plan now is also to
create more regular vacancies eg. 4-9pm shift with
4 hours class but in separate locations-ie. own transport
is the main factor!
KEEPING IN TOUCH:
Since we may never have met, a suggestion to get
to know you better is to come to our monthly social
and cultural events e.g. International Dining Club.
This club is a mix of foreign and japanese speakers
and meets informally to make friends and sample food
in different restaurants. In fact we often do a theme
e.g. Chinese New year party at a Chinese restaurant.
Anyone who wants to celebrate your native festival
day with the Dine Club and can suggest a place and
a party to us, please let us know. We look forward
to hearing from you! We emphasis events as a way to
use your skills! Another way you can help us is if
you are willing to contribute to our school newsletter
. We usually interview by email a foreigner with some
questions related to learning languages and culture-
so perhaps we can interview you next?! Ciao!
