Q. Do you want to know about our syllabus?

We offer tailor made courses, specifically designed for Japanese students. The prime consideration is motivation by teaching ‘ real topics’ i.e. lessons which are useful and of emotional interest to the student e.g. travel, making- friends, eating-out, every unit focuses on either a useful topic, function, skill or grammar point. Furthermore courses are flexible to meet student’s request.

Q. What kind of activities?

Because rigid uniformity in a course and text leads to boredom, most adult courses do not follow a repeated pattern. Activities may include information-gaps, dialogues, matching sentences, picture story telling, questionnaires, projects etc.

Q. What are our aims?

Our aims are to check comprehension and develop conversation strategies. Our courses emphasize interaction. Many lesson tasks are designed to encourage students to negotiate meaning and share real information with each other.

Q. What about vocabulary?

We try to focus on daily expressions, idiom and works that Japanese commonly make errors. If students learn vocabulary which they practice to be useful, they have a better chance of retaining it. Likewise we teach pronunciation in context, where appropriate.

Q. How can I succeed faster in my studies?

Finally we choose activities which work! In fact most textbooks have activities that fail in the classroom. Any activity should be transparent enough to be successful without reference to teacher’s manual.

Q. What about teaching children and young adults?

If we’re teaching young adults, we want them to start over again, thinking in English- and not always be translating from Japanese, as happens in JH schools.
