ADVICE TEACHING ADULT GROUPS

SELF EMPOWERMENT IN EDUCATION

You can tell that creativity, cooperation and communication are progressing in a classroom when:

1) the students if asked to work together organise their own thinking and deliver their ideas without the teacher prompting them all the time.

2) When the students volunteer their own questions without prompting when asked to clarify or repeat what you`ve said.

3) When the teacher has more ideas prepared for activities than she in fact uses

4) When the students have received or found their own confidence to talk about things personal or personal opinions…i.e. WHEN THE CLASS FEELS PERSONAL!

10 SUGGESTIONS FOR TEACHING ADULTS:

1) Choose meaningful activities.
We all share relevant common goals e.g. our projects, relationships.

2) Trust your students. have faith in their potential & earn their trust. Get to know them better!

3) Increase the energy! you will feel energised and no doubt it will be reflected back to you!

5) A teacher doesn`t always have to give the students confidence- they will find their own.

6) New classes will enjoy class questionnaires, but then get them to make their own as a project.

7) Now students play `STOPWATCH` game: they must talk non stop for e.g. 3 minutes about topic.

8) Give a pep-talk: The bad news is need to be thrown in; The good news is you just need to practise!

9) Chat-books: Each week students write their news, then swap books with partners and write reply!

10) Be creative e.g. use drama & non verbal mime game activity to expose we can talk without words!
